Yoni Biyé, formerly dancing under the name Bazi Afsun, is a student at Davis & Elkins College, working on his BA in American Vernacular Dance. Yoni has been studying tribal-fusion bellydance since 2007, and teaching since 2012. He has taken workshops from Donna Mejia, Frank Farinaro, Zoe Jakes, Sharon Kihara, Ebony Qualls, Rin Ajna, and Madame Onça, among others, as well as taking classes with Datura Online since 2015. He taught a weekly bellydance class in Harrisonburg, VA from May 2012 until February 2013. Yoni has also taught several private students, as well as a workshop at Jewels of the Orient 2015, all well-received. He plans to use his teaching to open a multi-styles school that caters to the dances which are often academically ignored by western culture, such as West African, Afro-Caribbean, Indian, Middle Eastern, and Central Asian styles.
